5 Of South Africa’s Most Loved Music Groups! We all have different taste in music there is no doubt in that but there are certain songs or artists that we all grow to like because of the unique style they introduce to the world of music. Nowadays Hip hop is taking over but we mustn’t  forget people who flourished in this amazing path of music. South Africa has had quiet a number of the most listened and most  celebrated musical bands that left a mark and opened doors for many individuals in the music industry.

Here are 5 of SA’s musical oldest bands, some are still in existence, some have separated and some are no more.

TKZee

South African kwaito music group formed in 1997 by three school friends, Tokollo Tshabalala, Kabelo Mabalane, and Zwai Bala. Their hit singles were Palafala and Shibobo.

  Freshly Ground

South African Afro-fusion band that formed in Cape Town in 2002. It consists of memebers from differnt parts of Africa. The band was featured in a song titled “Waka Waka” with Americas songbird Sharkira, the song was composed for the 2010 world cup which has was hosted in South Africa.

Boom Shaka

Boom Shaka was a kwaito music group consisting of Junior Sokhela, Lebo Mathosa, Theo Nhlengethwa and Thembi Seete. Their first album was produced in 1994. In 2000 the band went seperated ways. Lebo Mathosa passed on years later.

Gangs Of Instrumental

South African urban-pop group, founded in 2002, whose innovative musical style is a mixture of hip hop and street rap .One would say Gangs of instrumental was a 1 Hit wonder band, their My Number 1 hit gained them fame and regconition, after that the band was no more.

   The Parlotones 

South African indie rock band from Johannesburg. Formed in 1998, the group consists of Kahn Morbee, Paul Hodgson, Glenn Hodgson, and Neil Pauw.
