NaakMusiQ Set to Light Up Dancefloors with Explosive New Single “SHO”

South African entertainer NaakMusiQ has officially announced the release of his latest single titled “SHO,” set to drop this Friday, July 25th. The multi-talented star took to his social media platforms to break the news, giving fans a gritty, high-energy preview of the track while spinning behind the decks in his signature all-black look—dark shades, headphones on, and intensity in full display.
From the first snippet, “SHO” is shaping up to be a bass-driven Gqom anthem crafted for the dancefloor. With a raw and rhythmic energy that screams nightclubs and township parties, the single marks a bold musical return for NaakMusiQ, especially after his recent focus on DJing. The teaser, shared during one of his DJ sets, already has fans counting down the days.
Born Anga Makubalo in Gqeberha on May 28, 1987, NaakMusiQ has long been a fixture in South Africa’s entertainment scene. With a career spanning music, acting, presenting, and even sports, he embodies the modern-day multi-hyphenate. His stage name, NaakMusiQ, cleverly blends initials from his family members with a personal tribute to his father through the word “MusiQ.”
His journey began with a sports scholarship to Edenvale High School before turning to the arts. He studied acting and music, later signing with Baainar Records and rising to fame with the 2011 hit “Move” featuring Eltonnick. In 2014, he joined forces with DJ Tira’s powerhouse label, Afrotainment, securing his status in the Afro House and Afrotech scenes.
Over the years, NaakMusiQ has delivered a string of hits, including “Ntombi,” “Yini,” “Call Out,” “AmaBenjamin,” and more recently, “Sthandwa Sami” and “iMvula.” His October 2023 EP signaled his evolution as not just a vocalist but a full-fledged DJ and producer, showing he’s unafraid to explore new sonic directions.
Outside of music, his acting chops have landed him roles in some of South Africa’s biggest television shows, from Generations and Z’bondiwe to Igazi and The Estate. He’s also known for his charm as a presenter on popular youth programs like Hectic 9 Nine and Tropika Island of Treasure.
NaakMusiQ continues to expand his reach beyond entertainment. In 2022, he stunned fans by defeating Cassper Nyovest in a much-publicized celebrity boxing match, adding yet another unexpected milestone to his ever-growing portfolio. With whispers of upcoming business ventures, it’s clear he’s thinking bigger than the stage or screen.
As “SHO” gets ready to drop, anticipation is mounting. If the preview is any indication, NaakMusiQ is about to deliver one of this year’s most memorable Gqom tracks. With every new move, he proves once again why he remains one of South Africa’s most versatile and respected talents.
