Thuli P Steps Into the Spotlight as a Music Artist with Debut EP

When Thuli “Thuli P” Phongolo is not commanding the screen as an actress, she is making waves behind the decks as a DJ. Now, she is fully stepping into her own lane as a music artist with the release of her first EP, marking a new chapter in her dynamic career.

The 32-year-old, best known for her role as Namhla Diale on Generations: The Legacy, has spent nearly two decades building a versatile presence in the entertainment industry. Her journey began at 15 on SABC1’s hit series Tshisa, and her dedication opened doors to presenting roles on Craz-e and leading parts in productions such as Thula.

Thuli P’s career trajectory includes notable appearances on Generations: The Legacy, Makoti, The Republic, Rockville, and The Wife. Each role contributed to her growth as an artist and deepened her appreciation for storytelling, laying the foundation for her next venture.

In 2017, her passion for music led her to DJ’ing, a move that would redefine her creative path. Over time, her presence in music evolved from being featured on tracks to producing her own. The release of her debut single Hai Suka on 31 October, the lead track from her EP Avana, featuring Nia Pearl and Leandra Vert, signals her official transition into music artistry. The song celebrates empowered women taking control of their lives, encouraging confidence and unapologetic self-expression.

Thuli P’s music is released under her label AVANA Records, a platform she describes as a home for her creative journey. Speaking to Radio 2000, she reflected on her evolution, saying she has “always wanted to be in the entertainment industry” and is excited to share a body of work that is personal and fulfilling.

With her debut EP, Thuli P proves that she is not just an actress or DJ, but a multi-talented artist carving out her space in music. Her journey highlights dedication, versatility, and the courage to embrace new creative paths.
