South Africa Launches Its First Dance Music Awards
It is astonishing to see how fast South African music industry is growing, nowadays everyone is being given the platform to practice their musical talents, there seem to be no limits. Some SA musicians are also flying the SA flag way up high in countries from around the world, that proves growth and real talent. South Africa doesn’t have much musical awards though, the ones that exist have few categories. One of the initiators of the new awards Soul Candi announced that South Africa will be having it’s first annual Dance Music Awards.
The aim of the awards is to award the publicly-recognized individuals who are working hard to break barriers in South Africa’s thriving dance music industry. The awards won’t work the usual way, they will be conducted entirely online and managed by DMASA. The best part about these awards is that they are an audience-voted award event, dedicated to South African dance music. Voting and nominations will be made through the official website & social media. Fans will be given a chance to select nominees and winners.

July – The Announcement
August – Phase 1 Voting campaign commences
September – Phase Two of voting (Top five per category)
October – Winner announced
October – Honorary dinner

- Best EDM Record of the Year
- Best Underground Record of the Year (All non-commercial dance & underground sounds by SA Dance Music Artist)
