Ntsiki Mazwai To Write A Book To Prove A Point With Bonang’s Book
Musician and poetess Ntsiki Mazwai wants to write a memoir to prove to people that there’s still black excellence in writing. The poet spoke about this after witnessing the errors and mistakes on Bonang’s latest book A to B.
The book was the talk of the Social Media last week as people analysed the grammatical errors and made fun of it. In an interview with TshisaLive Ntsiki said that she is ready to have her own book published.
“I wasn’t sure if I wanted to publish it or not because it is deeply personal. I was unsure how people would react to it but I think after everything that has happened over the last few days (with Bonang’s book) there is an opportunity to show South Africa that there is still excellence in black writing.
Ntsiki went on to say that her book will be to defend writing. “It (Bonang’s book) was like someone who had no experience in singing releasing an album. Writing is a sacred experience and I want to defend that,” Ntsiki said.
The singer concluded by saying that her book will be called Homecoming because it will document the journey of her rediscovering her identity. The whole aim was is that she was brought up in white schools and lost a piece of herself that she wants to get back.
