WATCH : DJ Maphorisa’s Performance At The One Africa Fest in NYC

Music Producer and DJ Maphorisa made a killer performance in New York at the One Africa Festival where he played music that made anyone in the audience groove to his beats and throw their hands in the air showing all the signs of excitement. The DJ spoke to TshisaLive last week where he said that he wants to introduce that African sound to Americans and have them dance to the unique beats and sounds that are purely African and South African exampling with Qgom music. Like the loyal and talented musician that he is, he lived up to his words and gave New York something to remember SA with.

This is what Maphorisa said “It is always an honour to represent South Africa and Africa when I travel to places outside of the continent. It’s cool to play to audiences that may have never heard this kind of music. Like gqom for example: When you play it they have no idea what they’re hearing but they can’t help but move to it.” The DJ added that “The audiences are just different (to those in South Africa). People in the diaspora and outside of the continent are very interested in African sounds. It’s really cool to see so many people show so much love and passion for what we’re doing.”
