DJ Mahoota Explains Why Sometimes He Doesn’t Perform With Trompies
DJ and singer Zynne Sibika famously known as Mahoota and also a long time member of the legendary Kwaito group Trompies has expressed the reasons why he is sometimes absent from the group’s latest performances, saying that he has a solo career on the side he too has to focus on.
The musician has been accused for lacking interest in the group by fans, he clarified that by saying that he is still very much committed to the group. “I am still a member (of the group) and committed to Trompies. I am nothing without Trompies but you must understand that we are also solo artists and sometimes I am booked for other shows prior to my performances with Trompies, which I need to honour. If I am not available, the group goes on without me. That does not mean that I am not interested in the group or they are tired of me,” he said in an interview with TshisaLive.
After years of not releasing anything Mahoota announced that they are in the process of releasing their first comeback album which is set release quite soon. “We have to juggle both our solo careers and Trompies so we will release as artists every second year and as Trompies the following year. It is hard to say how long this album will take to finish but the energy in studio is electric and I am happy with it,” he added.
