“I am fortunate enough to have made a million rand from music” Says L-Tido
Rapper and Music Producer Thato Madonsela better known as L-Tido revealed that he has made an amount close to a million through music and explained how he got to that point. “I am fortunate enough to have made a million rand from music. I am not sure about a million dollars but I have made my first million,” he said in an interview at Metro FM.
Thato has also worked as a finacial adviser in the past, he has two albums to his name by far but has prodcued work for some of the top artists in SA music. The 35 year old also went to say that he financed his first musical project. This was all pursued by the passion he has for music. “Hip-hop in 2008 was not big (popular). We had no big stars who were making money so I had to take the risk. I knew that I had to make a plan so I saved to record a mixtape. The money I used to finance my first project was from what I had got during my 9-to-5. I was self-funded. I had no one to help me. Looking back, It was not a risk that was well thought out given the climate of the industry at the time. It was not a good risk but I am glad it paid off,” he added.
The money he has made from just music alone is shocking, for someone who started out from nothing it should be obvious to fans that passion and dedication can get you as far as you want. L-Tido is one of the few musicians in the country who are living large. His release of late is a single titled Thixo which features AKA and Yanga.
