Stimela And Hotstix Mabuse To Headline Ekurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening
Legendary Afro fusion jazz band iStimela is set to headline the upcoming Ekhurhuleni Comes Alive Jazz Evening in Birchwood Hotel as part of celebrating the Heritage month. The event will take place on Friday the 8th of September at The Birchwood Hotel & OR Tambo Conferencing Centre in Boksburg. The group will be performing live all their greatest pieces of music from then and now. This will be their first live performance as a band since the death of it’s founder Ray Phiri. The members of the group are Isaac “Mnca” Mtshali, , Thabo Lloyd Lelosa, Jabu S’bumbe, Thapelo Khomo, Ntokozo Zungu, Sam Ndlovu and Bafana Khuzwayo.
Stimela formed back in the 70’s, they never took a break from music they are still a band that is giving jazz music a better meaning in South Africa.The Whisper In The Deep hit-makers have won themselves awards and have received a Silver Order of Inkanyanga from President Jacob Zuma as a symbol of overcoming South Africa’s tempestuous history. The band will be joined by other big names in the Jazz industry such as Sipho ‘Hostix’ Mabuse, a man whose versatility in music has made him one of a kind, he has mastered a variety of instruments including African drums, flute, piano, saxophone, kalimba, alto flute, and timbales.
