Those who have been following the Afro pop muso Ntando Bangani throughout his singing career are aware that he sings mostly about romantic love. On his newly released album Mayibuye the Nguwe hitmaker gave fans a different taste, he further explained in an interview with TshisaLive as to why he did that.
Bangani said the album is also about love just a different kind of love that address societal issues that ought to be dealt with.
“Of course I sing about love. I’m a firm believer that love is a universal language that will never be out of fashion. But, I also think the time calls for us to speak about the issues in our society. We need to speak about our land and revive conversations around why Africans, and particularly black Africans are still not comfortable in their own land,” he said.
Ntando went on to add that he felt it was another way of expressing views that most people have no liberty to and felt it was of importance that they speak up.
“Ever since I was child, we’ve been having these conversations (different extends of course) in hush tones but things like being secure and comfortable as black people in our land, needs to be spoken about. And, what better way than to speak about it from a place love?” he said.
However, his album is doing well. People are loving the difference he introduced.
The album is available on iTunes and selected music stores nation wide.
