Nakhane Touré Set To Release New Album ‘You Will Not Die’

Award winning muso Nakhane Touré is currently working on a new album titled You Will Nit Die set to release next year in February. Nakhane is in London for now to prepare for the festival of his debut film Inxeba – The Wound which will open Film Africa, a 10-day festival at the British Film Institute (BFI) alongside the Thames. He is also busy working on the album while in London recording with British producer Ben Christophers.

In an interview with City Press, the artist expressed all that he could in regards to his upcoming album and the new film Inxeba. He expressed the inspiration behind his album and said that his death was revealed to him in his sleep. “I used to be in a face-off with death; I used to be afraid of death. Then my death was revealed to me in a dream. This is preferable, for I am a control freak,” he said.

Despite the film, the star has also released a music video for his single titled Clairvoyant which sees two male lovers making out. The reactions from the video and and film are mixed, with most people insulting while other are complimenting.

The Wound has won a number of awards, including the highly competitive Best First Feature Award at the BFI London Film Festival last weekend. It is also South Africa’s official submission in the foreign language Oscar Awards 2018 race. The release of the film angered a whole lot of people especially those of the Xhosa Tribe some even threatened to kill him for ‘disrespecting’ culture like that as they claimed.

Toure expressed that his art is not intended to conflict with his traditional Xhosa roots. “After I left the Christian faith and became apostate, I became deeply involved in Xhosa spirituality. My aunt is a sangoma and for me, that feeds into every part of who I am as an artist, as a singer, a writer, an actor – because I believe my ancestors are with me all the time and I strongly believe with every fibre of my being that I am doing good for my culture.” he said.
