Penny Penny Invents New Music Genre
Penny Penny has transformed from the bubblegum pop and disco music style he’s famous for and is about to drop a single from a new genre he invented himself and calls Heavy Gum. The single is titled Goldie Bone. Apparently it is a new type of Hip Hop.
He explained where the inspiration of the song came from. “I called it Goldie Bone because gold is an important mineral and has a beautiful colour. Also, everything I touch turns to gold. I want people to know that, as Africans, we are all Goldie Bone. We are precious like gold. We don’t wear animal skins and walk around like animals,” he said Speaking to TshisaLive.
He further explained why he calls the genre Heavy gum. “The genre of the song is heavy gum because before it (my sound) used to be bubblegum. I decided to call it heavy gum to symbolise a gum that remains sweet forever,” he added.
The singer expressed that he is tired of being called a Shangaan Disco King and that he is not limited to being only that by saying music is more than about the language one speaks.
Since he claimed it was a new kind of Hip Hop he also said that he was in no competition with heavyweights such as AKA and Cassper highlighting that he was paving his own route with this one.
“I don’t want to compete with AKA or Cassper. I don’t want to mention their names because I am my own artist and my fans will love me with whatever songs I make,” said Penny.
