Mtukudzi is a businessman, philanthropist, human rights activist and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Southern Africa Region. His musical career began back in 1977 in a band Wagon Wheel with their debut single going gold. His debut solo album also performed successfully.
Oliver has collected so many awards during his musical career since from the 80’s. In 2014 he recieved an Honorary Doctorate from Great Zimbabwe University (GZU). Doctor of Philosophy in Ethnomusicology & Choreography (Honoris Causa). His songs are the ones that will still be relevant in decades to come because they are that original.
