The group was formed by Sbongiseni and Thamsanqa Tshabalala the sons of the founder and lead vocalist of Ladysmith Black Mambazo Joseph Tshabalala. The third member of the group is Maqhinga Radebe and a variety of back-up female singers. They last dropped an album last year Yebo Ngyavuma.The remaining members of the group is Sbongiseni and Maqhinga.
The songs of Shabalala Rhythm are unique and always carry an in-depth interesting meaning that is just too real and funny not to like. They introduced a different sound in Maskandi, the breathtaking vocals of Sbongiseni are a tasteful cherry on top . They have worked with musicians such as Gospel songstress Deborah Fraser and Zimbabwean musical heavyweight Oliver Mtukudzi.
