Benny Maverick On Being An Independent Artist
Benny Maverick On Being An Independent Artist. Music Producer and Disc Jockey Benny Maverivk has expressed how the journey has been for him in the music industry on striving to make it as an independent artist. The Memeza hitmaker went on to say he turned down offers from major recording labels because he was hell-bent on being an independent artist.
“These majors call everyday but because we are trying to protect our music and ourselves as black businessmen in the music industry, we try go at it alone. Being independent is the hardest thing in the world. You just don’t have the pockets that major (labels) have. You always have to fight for yourself,” said Maverick Speaking To TshisaLIVE.
Benny made a good example of rapper Cassper Nyovest, praising how good he has managed to pull through as an independant artist.”There is no one I respect more than Cassper Nyovest. That man is a success story like you will never believe. He has paved the way for us as independent artists,” he said.
The DJ went on to inform the publication that he is currently working on an album which is set to release next year. “I like music that has content and so I will be adding a lot of vocals and good writing on the album. I need it to be known that I am not just about the club bangers but there is actual substance and content to what I do,” he added.
