DJ Zinhle Honoured with Powerhouse Award at 2025 WomenCan Awards

Ntombezinhle Jiyane-Mohosana, widely known as DJ Zinhle, was celebrated at the 2025 WomenCan Awards, receiving the prestigious Powerhouse Award. The accolade was presented during A Night of Mystery Gala in Johannesburg on Tuesday, 9 September. The award recognises women who demonstrate relentless drive, passion, and dedication to achieving their goals.
Zinhle expressed her excitement and gratitude upon being recognised for her contributions as a DJ, producer, entrepreneur, and media personality. She received the award from last year’s recipient, Hloni Modise-Matau, CEO of the Basadi in Music Awards, who praised Zinhle for her influence and ability to inspire others to aim higher.
During her acceptance speech, Zinhle, 42, shared a heartfelt message. “This award is deeply personal. I dedicate it to every woman who dares to dream and keep the fire alive,” she said, highlighting her commitment to motivating women in all spheres.
She later took to social media to thank the organisers and her supporters. “Thank you so much for this honour WomenCan and for creating a platform that celebrates us and reminds us of the power we hold when we stand together. This award is deeply personal because my journey has always been fueled by the incredible women who raised me, supported me and inspired me along the way. Tonight, I accept this award. And not just for myself, but for every woman who dares to dream and who keeps the fire alive. And finally thank you to journey for believing in me and for passing on this award. Thank you so much,” she wrote.
Beyond her music career, Zinhle has established a successful business portfolio. Her ventures include the accessories brand Era by DJ Zinhle, Hair Majesty, and other enterprises that reinforce her position as a leading figure in South African entrepreneurship.
WomenCan organisers, led by Tumi Mthembu, praised Zinhle for her leadership, innovation, and dedication to uplifting other women. “This award is not only about Zinhle’s achievements, but about the inspiration she gives us all to embrace our inner fire,” said Mthembu.
With this accolade, Zinhle joins a distinguished list of South African women who have excelled in their fields. Her recognition at the 2025 WomenCan Awards underscores her status as a powerhouse on and off the stage.
