Idols SA Season 11 runner-up Gospel musician Mmatema Moremi has been winning ever since the main exposure she got from the music competition even though she didn’t take the winning prize. The songstress released an album last year titled Love.Praise.Worship consisting of 16 tracks.
“The album comprises 16 tracks. I wrote most of the songs in the comfort of my home because I wanted to avoid all the technicalities. Love.Praise.Worship inspired my current life and life post-Idols. I decided to fuse everything into one album because people expect to hear different sounds from me. Some want to hear gospel and others love songs. I wanted the album to appeal to everyone. It’s available on all digital platforms and will be available in stores on 6 March,” Said Speaking to Drum.
The star went on to speak of how Idols changed her life. “Idols is a huge platform for aspiring musicians. It gives great exposure and if you use the opportunity wisely you could go far. Idols played a big role in my career since it gave me a start and exposed me to people who were interested in my gift. It opened many doors for me.”
Mmatema also gave a hint of what fans can expect from her this year.
“I’ll be pushing the album as much as I can by having an album tour in all major cities. I’ll also be doing more acting and presenting. I’m currently shooting the second season of Bone of My Bones and I’ll be on a new gospel show on SABC1. I recently also got an endorsement deal with a health and fitness company. I call this a year of breaking boundaries. I want to do things I’ve never done before and go beyond my limits. Maybe I’ll even do some dancing since I’m currently taking dance classes.”
On Saturday 17 February Moremi will be hosting The Love Connection with Mmatema at Winnie’s Soul & Jazz Restaurant in Wendywood, Joburg. Tickets for the show will be available at the door for R200.
