SAMAs Releases Nominees For Selected Categories 2018. The biggest musical award ceremony in SA the SAMAs set to take place in June 2 at Sun City are doing their very best in giving fans something to think on when it comes to nominees.
Last month the organisation announced the number of nominees for selected categories and the genres that will be featured in the awards, this time around they announced that they will be releasing the nominated acts in May on categories Male Artist of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Duo/Group of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Album of the Year.
Other nominees have already been releases and are as follows : Record of The Year nominees will be announced on Live AMP tonight. Mafikizolo, Mi Casa and Simphiwe Dana lead the pack with three nods each so far.
Mafikizolo walked away with nominations for Best Afro Pop Album, Best Engineered Album and Best Produced Album, while Mi Casa went home with nods for Best Dance Album, Best Produced Album and Best Engineered Album.
Songstress Simphiwe Dana’s album Simphiwe scored her nods in the Best Live Audiovisual, Best Jazz Album and Best African Artist categories.
Distruction Boyz’ hit track Omunye got nods for Best Collaboration and Best Engineered Album.
Other big hitters in the running for the coveted awards are Riky Rick, Kwesta, Prince Kaybee and Shekinah.
The late Robbie Malinga, who died on Christmas Day last year after a battle with pancreatic cancer, also got a nomination in the Best Afro Pop Album category.
