AKA Bashes On Trap Artists And Explains Why He’s Better Than Them
AKA gives advice on artists coming after him
AKA Bashes On Trap Artists And Explains Why He’s Better Than Them. Taking to Instagram to lay out his thoughts about S.A Hip Hop music and his gold-selling album Touch My Blood AKA made sure to pour it all out. The star spoke of anything from why other artists fail so much in music and why his album was such a great success.
“I think the reason why a lot of artists don’t find success, is because they don’t sound authentic. There’s too much cut and paste going on right now, especially from the younger guys. Now listen, I love trap music .. and it’s impossible to say that I am not influenced by music from overseas, in fact from all around the world, and many different genres, but the key is to retain your identity and energy and closeness to your people and their vibe.”
He added that his album is most South African because he knows what he’s doing and is giving people exactly what they need.
“While combining all those elements of influence. Let me tell you why this album is so big right now. It’s solely for one reason … it is the most SOUTH AFRICAN ALBUM I HAVE EVER MADE ?? You can debate what that statement means in Sonics terms but what you cannot deny … IS THAT I CLEARLY KNOW WHAT THE FUCK I AM DOING ? … you know what’s better than that? THE PEOPLE SEE IT, THEY FEEL IT AND ITS REAL TO THEM.”
In conclusion he made reference to artists who made aunthentic music like him and asked for upcoming stars to follow suit and not ruin HIS hardwork.
“To the artists coming up after me, PLEASE, you have a responsibility to retain your national identity in your music … if you don’t, you are just fucking it up for the future of our people and undoing all my hard work, OUR hard work … Brenda Fassie, TKZee, HHP, Abdullah Ibrahim,Teargas, Caiphus Semenya, Stimela to name a few.”
