Inside Rethabile Khumalo’s Journey On Finding Her Niche In The Music Industry – She was born and bred in the light of her famous mum, Winnie Khumalo, that’s how you knew her, although that did not prohibit her from chasing her own dream.
Rather, the 24-year-old singer has created an opportunity for herself in the entertainment industry with her distinct sound.
Prominently known as Retha, the Soweto musician is a knowledgable dancer, multi-instrumentalist and musician. Her initial track Nomathemba was emancipated through DJ Tira’s Afrotainment
According to Daily Sun – “People thought I would be like Nomathemba and just sit round and let other people do things for me but I work hard for my dreams and goals.”
She asserts, she comprehends the industry is resilient, although her optimistic perspective of one day discovering her place is the key to her determination.
“I work hard for everything I want and I am not where I want to be but am hopeful I will get there.”
“My music career was inspired by the likes of Brenda Fassie and Lebo Mathosa.”
“Those women were original and did not want to be dictated to on how they presented themselves to the world.
“They also did not allow American pop culture to influence them,” she said.
So, the Idols SA 2012 contestant mentioned her next work of art, an EP including seven songs, is under construction.
“I have been in studio recording new music and as soon as I am happy with all the songs, I will release it.
