Travis Scott Releases Cinematic Music Video for “PBT” Featuring Tyla and Vybz Kartel

Travis Scott has dropped a new music video for his track “PBT,” featuring South African artist Tyla and Jamaican dancehall icon Vybz Kartel. The video premiered on Wednesday, December 17, and was directed by Nabil Elderkin, known for his visually striking work with global artists.

Filmed across Tokyo, the video brings the song’s Afrobeats and dancehall influences to life, highlighting the international reach of Scott’s “JackBoys 2” project. This marks the first collaboration between Scott and Kartel, while Scott and Tyla reunite after their 2023 remix of “Water.” The track fuses Afrobeats rhythms, dancehall grooves, and melodic hip hop, pairing Scott’s restrained style with Tyla’s energetic delivery and Kartel’s veteran presence.

The video opens with panoramic shots of Tokyo’s skyline, setting a nocturnal, cinematic tone. Scott and Tyla appear in separate hotel rooms, preparing in isolation as memories of a past encounter unfold. Their stories gradually converge, culminating in a silent reunion and a shared walk through the city streets at night. Kartel’s appearance in the distance adds a layer of gravitas, blending the cityscape with celebration and movement. The Tokyo setting emphasizes luxury, distance, and desire, complementing the track’s rhythm and mood.

Produced by BBYKOBE, “PBT” showcases the stylistic range of “JackBoys 2,” which navigates hip hop, Afrobeats, and dancehall while maintaining a cohesive sound. Scott adopts a melodic, measured approach, allowing Tyla to drive the rhythm, while Kartel’s verse adds historical depth, connecting contemporary global pop with dancehall’s rich legacy.

“JackBoys 2” debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, marking Scott’s fifth project to achieve this milestone. The album features contributions from Future, 21 Savage, Playboi Carti, Don Toliver, GloRilla, Sheck Wes, Kodak Black, and Bun B, reflecting the collective strength of the Cactus Jack roster.

Houston-born Scott remains one of modern hip hop’s most influential figures. His 2023 album “Utopia” was the highest-selling hip hop release of the year, and his “Circus Maximus Tour” set records for attendance and revenue, becoming the highest-grossing rap tour in history. Scott also made history as the first rapper to headline a sold-out show at LA’s SoFi Stadium. Beyond music, he continues to expand his influence in fashion, film, and philanthropy through the Cactus Jack Foundation.

“PBT” positions Scott, Tyla, and Vybz Kartel at the forefront of a global musical conversation, blending cultural sounds and cinematic storytelling into a memorable, cross-continental collaboration.
