Davido’s Opens Up About His Album, Major Achievements In the Music Game Amid Preparation For Tour In Northern America – Nigerian vocalist/producer Davido was born David Adedeji Adeleke in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1992.

His interest in music began while attending Oakwood University in his late teens, and he started making his own beats and investigating music production. He dropped out of school and began pursuing music full-time, relocating to Lagos, Nigeria, and releasing his debut single, “Back When,” in 2011.

It has been approximately been over a year since Davido has been in the soils of South Africa. His comeback has been an absolute pleasure and celebration as he celebrated his second album’s success.

We are delighted, especially with the masterpiece he gave, an album titled A Good Time, saturated with good times when he celebrated the fact that the record had just gone platinum and accumulated an incredible 115 million streams on Spotify.

Davido is getting ready for his first North American tour; an element in his career that has been a long-anticipated for the hitmaker, although comes as no shock. In the previous year, 2019, he was the initial African solo artist to sell out the O2 arena in the United Kingdom; while also breaking the record for the longest-charting song on the US Billboard by a Nigerian artist. And the cherry on top he even managed to hit 500 million total views on YouTube.

“Selling out 50 000 in a Western man’s world is amazing, a lot of UK artists can’t do that so for me to come all the way from Nigeria to another man’s world was an eye opener and made me realize how lit my music is,” he explains.

He was hosted in Johannesburg by Sony to celebrate the milestone of his second album. The creativity that is valued worldwide with the single Fall being one of America’s most loved songs in 2019.

“What inspired the album?”

I wouldn’t say anything inspired it, I am not really an album artist, I just release songs,” Adeleke explains.  “Anytime I am in studio and I feel like a song is ready to go I just release it and then realize later that I want to put them on a project.  Songs like If, Fall, Blow My Mind, Risky made me want to put them all on an album.”

If you can still recall or follow his music, broke into the scene in 2012 it is incredible and unbelievable to learn he did not always want to be the star of the show.

“I started behind the scenes because I am actually a really shy person. Over the years I became less shy having done it for 8 years,” he laughs.

“I wanted to be a music creator, arranging and producing music because that is where my talent really is. I arrange and compose songs really well and write for other people as well.”

In the time between albums, Davido also inked a deal with RCA and began his own label, although The Baddest still remained unreleased in mid-2017. The following year saw Davido issue the singles “Wonder Woman” and “NWA Baby.” In 2019, he paired with Chris Brown for the track “Blow My Mind.”
