Candy Mokwena, who is famously known for her feature with Oskido on ‘Tsa Mandebele’, is set to comeback with her fourth studio album titled ‘Still Here’. This is her first studio album since her contract with Oskido’s Kalawa Jazmee was finished. Candy Mokwena says, “This album will take you from cleaning the house in the morning to clubbing with your friends.”
She has put in different sounds in her album that would be pleasant for different places and people. Candy says the album has traditional and modern sound, she has also put in some House and Afro-soul. She says the album is a reminder for her of all the negotiations that didn’t go well for distributing her art. She went on to say that the name of the album is based on the media asking if she still makes music.
Candy Mokwena decided to leave Kalawa Jazmee this year by not renewing her contract. “The idea of going independent was not an easy one to make, but I just knew it was time last year. However, it only came into fruition this year when I decided not to renew my contract with my former label,” says the singer. She says the main grounds of learning for her in the music business is that the business evolves and one has to be ready for its twists and turns.
