Lerato Makhetha was playing a role that he has been gunning at for over 5 years on SABC 3’s ‘Isidingo’. He played the part of Ntando Sibeko but the role did not last for very long. The show was thus cancelled due to low ratings and other factors. So many actors and actresses were left with no employment.
However, Lerato Makhetha was not too hurt by the cancellation of the show. He seems to have other skills in his pocket, one which is singing. He recently made people listen to his voice when he published his first single, Makhubenjalo. The 33-year-old artist says the song is a love letter to Africa with the intent to apologise for some certain events that have been happening throughout the years.
Lerato Makhetha says, “Makubenjalo is a love letter to Africa with the intent to apologise for the xenophobia, gender-based violence, marches advocating for free higher education and general social unrest that was prevalent at the time [2019].” He did music studies at the Drakensberg Choir School in 1997. The actor and musician says he professionally started playing as a music career for Tuks Senganga in 2003. He is the son of highly acclaimed actor Jerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha.
