GoodLuck Releases Stirring New Single Amidst Global Crisis

Internationally acclaimed South African electronic band, GoodLuck, has released their hard-hitting new single, entitled ‘What Next?‘. The song is a plea for change that challenges listeners to consider what our future will look like if we continue on the same path of disregard for the environment.

Lead vocalist, Jules said, “We cannot go back to treating the world the way we did before this pandemic. We have to change the way we live and consume, or the future isn’t going to look bright for any of us. That’s the message we want ‘What Next?‘ to drive home.”

The single comes at a time where widespread lockdowns have seen marked reductions in air pollution levels around the globe – demonstrating nature’s ability to rejuvenate and thrive when human interference is reduced. The band has committed to donating 50% of their profits earned from ‘What Next?‘ to the World Land Trust during this time. The organisation – backed by Sir David Attenborough – works to restore and preserve threatened habitats.

Jules began writing ‘What Next?‘ in 2017 but felt that something was holding her back. “With the feelings I’ve been having in the face of this pandemic, I found the words to finish the song. It felt like it was meant to be released now”, says Jules.

What Next?‘ was first performed live on the Global Citizen #TogetherAtHome concert, a global broadcast featuring global artists to raise funds for the World Health Organisation’s Covid-19 relief efforts. GoodLuck was proudly the first South African band to be invited to perform, joining the likes of Shawn Mendes, Taylor Swift, John Legend, Hozier and Lady Gaga in streaming live performances from their home.

The band is currently running their own campaign to help support local NGOs who are operating feeding sites across informal settlements in Cape Town. To date, they have raised more than R300k to help feed those in dire need of food due to unemployment as a result of the virus.

What Next?‘ is released on Get Lucky Records and is available for download on Spotify, Apple Music, Google Play, Deezer on 30 April 2020 – Download here: https://orcd.co/whatnext
