The Mxakaza twins, Anele and Neliswa Mxakaza, have been off the entertainment industry radar since they spoke against their previous pastor, Timothy Omotoso, from the Jesus Dominion International Church. The Idols South Africa contestants made multiple allegations towards Timothy Omotoso, this is after several people from the church had allegations against the pastor.
Since the ongoing case against their former pastor the former, the Idols South Africa sisters didn’t feel secure or ready to bring out new music. Well, they are ready to release again today. The sister came back with a new name, Amali, which means hope. They have also brought out a new single titled ‘Take Me Back’. The sisters were assisted by their manager in them changing their brand.
“Our manager, Luyolo Beku, helped us choose the name and to rebrand ourselves. We chose the name Amali, meaning hope on Swahili, because we were looking for a fresh start and we wish to be a vessel of hope for other people who feel hopeless and broken,” Anele Mxakaza. Neliswa says the case against their former pastor keeps getting the dates postponed. She says that even though the threats have subsided, they still don’t feel comfortable heading to the shops. “We want to reclaim the years lost and get our dignity back. We were promised so many things that never transpired. All we want to do is live our purpose, make good healing music and carry on with our lives,” says Anele Mxakaza.
