Global citizen has recently publicised their upcoming concert titled ‘One World: Together At Home’. The concert is being hosted by the organisation, in partnership with Lady Gaga. The organisation has managed to raise about R653 million. The concert is set to assist healthcare officials.
The concert is also set to assist numerous relief efforts in the middle of the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. Burna Boy was originally the only African that was set to appear at the Global Citizen concert. However, more African acts were added on the line-upcurate by Lady Gaga and the organisation. The acts include South African acts such as Black Coffee, Sho Madjozi, Cassper Nyovest and Sho Madjozi. Black Panther’s Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o are also part of the acts in the line-up.
Lady Gaga spoke about the concert’s assistance in the Covid-19 outbreak. “I want to highlight this global, kind community that’s coming together right now. It’s this valiant effort that we’re all witnessing in the medical community…take a second to marvel at the bravery. I also want to highlight that this isn’t just a historical moment, but there’s a cultural moment that’s occurring as well- and it’s a kind one,” says Lady Gaga in an interview with Jimmy Fallon. The show is set to broadcast everywhere in the world on the 18th of April.
