The Dirty Skirts Return with Dark and Powerful New Single “Bleeding Out”

South African post-punk indie rock band The Dirty Skirts are back with their latest single, “Bleeding Out,” a gripping track that delves into the intensity of love and chaos. The song portrays the razor’s edge between passion and destruction with stark, vivid imagery.

“Bleeding Out” examines the tension of an unhealthy relationship. The lyrics depict a dynamic where one partner feels everything, including rage, while the other retreats into disconnection. The band draws inspiration from Kali, the goddess of destruction and rebirth, channeling both the danger and transformative power inherent in the relationship.

Frontman Jeremy de Tolly explained, “We’re really excited about our new single, Bleeding Out. It captures some of the energy we’re feeling right now… an urgency to share music, alongside the poignancy of how mad human life on planet Earth is at the moment.”

He added that the song is deeply personal. “Lyrically, the track is an intimate look into a toxic relationship pattern I used to be stuck in. It’s an invitation to move beyond combative or dissociative old behaviours into something more present, passionate, and real. As a band, we feel like we’re back, but also brand new… ready to light up your favourite playlists, clubs, and festival stages.”

The track originated from biting guitar riffs by David Moffatt, which the band expanded through remote collaboration. Produced by Josh Berry, “Bleeding Out” combines raw, urgent instrumentation with powerful lyrical storytelling, making it impossible to ignore.

The Dirty Skirts’ return with “Bleeding Out” signals a renewed energy for the band, blending post-punk intensity with introspective themes. Fans can expect the single to feature prominently across playlists, radio rotations, and live performances, reaffirming the band’s place in South Africa’s indie rock scene.
