Lebo Mashile Speaks About The Hardships Of Being Outspoken. Lebo Mashile has stated that its sometimes difficult being outspoken, more so in the entertainment sector.
Lebo Mashile has stated that its sometimes difficult being outspoken, more so in the entertainment sector. The poet has said her piece about racism, inequality and misogyny in the entertainment sector. She has now spoken about the advantages and disadvantages of having strong opinions.
She went on social media to speak about the issue. She went on to say that all the stereotypes that people put on a person when they act in a certain way. “When you care about justice, they call you angry. When you tell the truth, they call you bitter. When their policing doesn’t work, they call you a problematic b***h,” says Lebo Mashile. She also went on to speak about what happens when one writes their own story.
“When you write your own story, they ignore it, until they can’t. Then they pretend they loved you all along,” says the poet. She went on to say that if people’s ‘woo woo’ is not about dismantling systemic oppressions then they shouldn’t bother her. “If your woo woo is not about dismantling hieracrchies and systemic oppressions, then miss me with it please. All lives matter woo woo is invested in erasure. All of us chose this specific time to incarnate to do this work. It is spiritual and political. Your chakras ain’t better,” says Lebo Mashile.
