South African musician Amy Lilley is new to the music scene but she is already a hitmaker. Her single and EP album have just recently been given a global distribution deal by Platoon, an artist services organisation based in South Africa and London. Amy has been one of the few South African musicians that have been chosen by the artists services organisation.
Amy Lilley has never formally released any music until this present moment. The artist says that releasing her EP album is a bit surreal for her because she has never done something like that before. “It’s a bit surreal, I’ve never done anything like this before. It’s exciting and terrifying all at the same time cause you have no idea how people are going to react. But mostly I just feel really f***ing lucky,” says Amy Lilley. She also went on to state that she tried to explore and have fun with the album, hence she didn’t settle on a sound.
“I don’t think I’ve really settled on a sound yet. So the rest of the album I’m just trying to explore a little more and have some fun with it. Definitely want to throwback to Sophie Ellie Baxter and Kylie but also have a lot of influence from Angel Olsen and DRAMA so it’s a melting pot,” says the musician. The artist hopes to work on her music more and doing well-thought out live shows in the near future. Amy Lilley is also a chef, self-proclaimed activist and has a live music place.
