South Africa has been fighting against the increase of gender-based violence, some female celebs have also been at the end of the fight against gender-based violence. Some celebs have also spoke about the times they were sexually violated in their lives. This also includes singer and Idols South Africa judge Unathi, who spoke about a man who sexually violated her earlier on in the week.
Unathi went on social media to speak about what the man did while they were on video call. The musician stated the time when a person presented his private parts to her while she was on air. She spoke about the issue under the hashtag #ThatsRapey. She answered the phone because she couldn’t recognise the numbers as she recently changed phones and didn’t sync her numbers. “Yesterday, I was violated during my show by a man. A man I told I don’t like video calls from if I’m not dating them…he was in the bath…he then proceeds on the video to present his genatalia…,” says Unathi.
She went on to say that she then told a colleague what happened, to which the colleague tried to console her while Unathi tried to downplay. However, the same thing affected her day. Social media users and female celebs responded to the post by the musician and Idols South Africa judge. Celebs such as Zizo Tshwete, Minnie Dlamini and Candice Modiselle commented on the post. “Your first NO should be enough. Why are there some men who believe that they will eventually wear you down and that they will change your no to a yes…This unsettled me so much because what if next time you don’t have physical distance from him,” says Zizo Tshwete.
