Simphiwe Dana Criticises IPID For Disregard Of Viral Video. Simphiwe Dana took to Twitter to raise her concerns against the Independent Police Investigation Directorate (IPID) for disregarding the viral video of one of their officers who was captured acting harassing a female citizen.
Simphiwe Dana posted on twitter on Tuesday the 14th of July 2020, She shared in her post that she is not surprised that the IPID did not take any action in reacting to the actions of their officer in the viral video.
On Monday the 13th of July 2020 a social media user shared a video of a man who appeared to be an IPID officer, the man was ill-treated her at a local supermarket. The man had acted harshly after trying to harass and grope the lady. The man had to be put off by another man in the store, so that he would leave the women.
The video went viral as many people on Twitter shared it, it started circulating all over social media. Eventually the identity of the man was revealed. It is believed that the man is a law enforcement official. Many people tagged the IPID and the South African Police Services (SAPS).
There has been no word from both the IPID and SAPS in addressing the matter. The singer expressed her opinion on the two services and directorates incompetency. She shared saying “our laws are desensitized to the plight of women in this country”. She further meant that South African laws do not well accommodate the major issued of women being ill-treated in the country.
