Martin Speaks About His Life From Being Homeless To Musician Status After Mlindo The Vocalist Found Him. It took just a few weeks to change Martin Mphelo’s life.
It took just a few weeks to change Martin Mphelo’s life. The singer was spotted on the streets of Hillbrow in Johannesburg. He trended after singing Anthony Hamilton’s famous track titled ‘Pray For Me’.
When the video of the musician made rounds on the internet it caught the attention of amaBlesser hit maker Mlindo The Vocalist. The musician asked people to help him find Martin, who was homeless at the time. Social media user worked together in order to find the talented singer. Martin is a 26-year-old man from Limpopo, he moved to Johannesburg after he wasn’t on good terms with his family due to bad choices. Martin told ‘Drum’ magazine that he got arrested for a bad fight and when he got out of prison his life had changed for the worst as his family didn’t take him back, having him figure his own life out. He was apprehended for assault with the intent to cause serious bodily harm, including attempted murder. He was in prison for 18 months, when he was released he didn’t have a place to go to.
The musician went on to say that he came to Johannesburg trying to get solutions to his issue, four months after realising that Polokwane was not the land of chances. He used his talent to survive the Johannesburg jungle and used the money to buy food. “Just when I had given up, some woman who works for the military took a video of me singing and to my surprise it trended, and she tagged Mlindo The Vocalist. And he asked people to help find me,” says Martin Mphelo. The musician has been interviews, recording with Mlindo The Vocalist and he will also be featured on television show by highly acclaimed director Mandla N titled ‘The Score’.
