The Marikana Massacre was one of the most brutal events that happened in South Africa in 2012. To remember what happened at the event 8 years later, the singer released track titled ‘Blood Guns And Revolutions’. In the song she remembers the 34 mineworkers that lost their lives when they were striking for living wages.
The miners lost their lives when they were in a show-off with the law enforcements on the 16th of August in 2012. The singer stated what the song holds in its importance. “…A few days ahead of the eighth anniversary of the Marikana massacre, I will be sharing a song holding gratitude, disappointment and unanswered questions. We live in the tension,” says Msaki. The singer beautifully covered the excruciating event with her velvety voice and mid-tempo instrumental.
