There is always this debate that money helps people in the music industry to make good music that so they can further their music other areas such as the United States of America. However, music producer Prince Kaybee seems to disagree with the notion that money will help in making great music. The musician says that the only thing that will help in making music great is the song.
“So I have seen and understood that we put too much responsibility on money, marketing, music videos and the likes, we forget about the actual song if it will compete in the highest level on the charts. I just want artists to rely primarily on the song than on a big budget,” says Prince Kaybee. He thus referred to his hit track ‘Wajellwa’. He stated that he only had R10 at the time to upload the song to Datafilehost at an internet café.
Prince Kaybee also states that the song did not have a music video but it has travelled the world. He also named ‘Imoto’ by Professor, which was a big hit in the 2010s. The music producer says there are a lot of tracks that had big budgets but didn’t make it, due to the songs themselves. “I’m not saying money doesn’t play a role but what are you saying about the songs with big budgets and [no] relevance??? All I am saying is money does not make your song good, you do. Commit to the task, invest in producing Good songs and worry about budgets later…”
