Idols South Africa has now reached a stage where people will be at the edge of their seats because they don’t want their faves to lose. There will still be live performances from the contestants. However, the show will not have live audiences.
Nomsa Philiso, the director of local channels at M-Net, told Daily Sun spoke about taking the decision to ensure that the viewers and competition contestants are safe. It is a norm on Idols South Africa to have the auditions and theatre week without the audience. However, when the top 16 begins the state theatre is always filled to the brim with fans of the show. The restrictions do allow a limited number of people but Idols South Africa does not want to gamble with people’s lives.
“The show is about to reach its peak, a stage where viewers are starting to have their clear favourites. While we have had to take the difficult decision not to have audiences at the live shows due to the current environment and in trying to keep our fans and contestants safe, we excited that our valued viewers are can still enjoy this exciting production with us, from a distance, with lots to look forward to as we get closer and closer to the finale,” says Nomsa Philiso. The competition is quite tough this year; the top 16 of the show will begin with the male counterparts.
