Human trafficking has proven to be problematic in South Africa at the present moment. It has reached to a point where people are warning each other on where one shouldn’t go, including a place in Pretoria. Children and women were warned by concerned people, men were also warned as to who they should avoid.
This matter has scarred a lot of people on social media platforms, this includes Kwaito Musician Lvovo. He wants to know how the people that have been kidnapped get taken out of the country. Lvovo says,“How do all these trafficked people leave the country? No passports or visas. Do [you] realise that we are dealing with a much more organised syndicate than we thought?” Social media users reacted to the post by the kwaito artist. “I’ve always wondered how they are transported to other countries. Which also led me to think that the matter is more than we think. We might be just dealing with the tip of an iceberg,” says one social media user.
Some people claimed that the government might allegedly having something to do with it. One social media user says, “From the kidnappers right down to the eventual owners of the victims. A huge net of people dedicated to human trade. This is not something your government will deal with.” One social media user says, “You’re dealing with compromised sovereignty and an immigration system that needs complete overhaul. You can never address human trafficking without deliberately confronting immigration control.”
