Nomcebo Zikode Speaks About How She Almost Threw The Towel Before ‘Jerusalema’ By Master KG. ‘Jerusalema’ became one of the biggest songs around the world.
‘Jerusalema’ became one of the biggest songs around the world. The song has been nominated climbing charts all over the world, challenges in honour of the song and stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo promoting the song. Before the song came up from Master KG, Nomcebo Zikode was ready to throw the towel on music and her family life.
The musician has been working as a backup singer for artists such Nhanhla Nciza, Lundi and Zahara. However, the musician wanted her own music career and reached a point of giving up before Master KG came to her about a feature on the song that changed her life. “I was in this place where I was stuck in this funk of sleeping and waking up, but there was nothing happening for me. I was so depressed that I felt like I was close to taking my own life,” says Nomcebo Zikode.
The musician says that Master KG played the ‘Jerusalema’ beat about 3 to 4 times and the words she could think of are the ones that she sang on the track as a chorus. She says that at the time she felt as if her purpose was not on earth but God needs to take her to Jerusalem, so that she can find peace and happiness like other people.
