The song ‘Uthando’ by Soa Mattrix and Soulful G has made rounds on the airwaves and in the streets. The song has been touching the hearts of people while also getting them to dance. However, a social media user found an issue with the track.
The social media user played side by side with Ami Faku’s ‘Ungowami’ including the version done by De Mogul SA titled ‘Ungowam’. The user found out that the melody for both songs sounds a bit similar. “Ever listened to a beautiful new single, only to feel like you’ve heard it somewhere before? Is it my brain playing trick on me…but the ‘Uthando’ son by Soa Mattrix & Soulful G, the melody is fundamentally identical to that of Ami Faku and De Mogul SA…,” says the social media user.
Other users commented on the finding. One social media user says, “We been knew from the very first go we heard Uthando but we chose to keep quiet because what’s the point both songs are beautiful and we love them.” One user says, “I’m actually so sad over this uThando plagiarism saga, because I really like the song.” Ami Faku just responded to a post of an interview with the lead singer, where she was also asked about the supposed similarity. She responded to the post by just saying “Lol…”
