DJ Maphorisa had social media in a divide when he was rumoured to have been dating a 19-year-old girl. The rumour came up after an influencer teenage friend announced the alleged relationship. Cyan Bouke posted a few snaps of her friend, even a text conversation that they had.

In the text conversation, the friend admits to dating music producer DJ Maphorisa. The music producer has not responded to the allegations against him as of yet. Social media users reacted to the announcement. One social media user says, “Zodwa wabantu did it and was celebrated…Now that Maphorisa is doing it [grannies] have a problem?” One social media user says, “But I thought women at that age are more matured than men their age, and he should date men who are at least ten years older. That’s what you ladies been bragging about all this years, that you mature quickly compared to your male counterparts. Now [Maphorisa] is dating, [you] complaining…”

One user brought up the R Kelly saga. “I smell R Kelly tendencies here, [date] phori but it will end in tears…”One social media user says, “Maphorisa is the adult here, let’s stop blaming teenagers for not knowing better please.” Some users brought up the comment of DJ Maphorisa saying that he was turned on by the famous whistle girl.
