At 8pm on the 14th of December 2020, the president of South Africa is set to address South African citizens. People think that it is due to the second wave coronavirus that has come upon the country. Social media users have put event locations under fire for supposedly having people who respect social distancing rules and mask protocol.

Artists have also been under fire for allegedly having the people at their gigs not respecting the covid-19 regulations. South African band GoodLuck was put under fire for a performance that was filled. In the video recording, the group is seen performing a fire set with fans dancing close to each other with no masks. One social media shared the video recording. “ [President Cyril Ramaphosa] please in your speech don’t focus on Taverns and after tears only, When you ask yourself why we are getting harsher lockdown restrictions…perhaps you just need to look at videos like these too,” says the social media user.

The event happened at La Parada in Cape Town. The group released an apology statement on social media. “We would like to offer our sincerest apology to all of our fans, friends and family. We had nothing but the best of intentions going into Sunday’s performance & we are bitterly disappointed that things got out of control for even 1 minute. It’s a massive reminder to stay vigilant,” GoodLuck captioned the statement on Twitter. The group says that they should have stopped the music and told people to go back to their tables, they say that they will work on making sure that such incidents don’t happen anymore. The group has cancelled their December ‘Get Lucky Summer’ concert due to the safety of their fans and the public.
