DJ Sbu Breaks World Record For Longest Radio Show. Media personality and entrepreneur DJ Sbu has put South Africa on the world map by breaking the world record for the Longest Marathon Radio Music Show. The nine-day experience saw DJ Sbu broadcast in both South Africa and Tanzania, challenging his team to participate in the world’s longest radio show marathon for charity.
The basis of the world record experience was a philanthropic one to raise funds for the Siyazigabisa Home Of Hope in his home town, Tembisa. “We are very humbled by this experience. Never have we thought that we would set a new world record.” said Sbu.
The biggest Neighbouring Rights royalty collection organisation in Africa, SAMPRA, congratulated Sbu his mileston captioned: “Congratulations to legendary DJ and businessman @djsbu for breaking the world record for the longest radio broadcast of nine-days. Wishing you all the best on your upcoming projects.”
“We also partnered with a radio platform in Tanzania, 255 Global Radio, and did a historical Longest Music Radio Show Marathon in the world from two countries streaming on multiple platforms including our social media feeds,” added Sbu.
Sbu took to Instagram to share the news with his fans and followrs with a caption: “Thank you for the experience ?? Marathon Longest Music Radio Show in the World. 216 hours of non stop music radio raising funds for @Siyazigabisa through @SLEF_SA.”
This milestone also marks an era for DJ Sbu as he retires from daytime radio at Massiv Metro. “At some point you have to hang up the mic and focus on the development of others. It’s my 2nd time retiring in my life. First was from music 10 years ago and after 20 years of radio, I thought why not go out with a world record,” added DJ Sbu.
