RnB and Afropop musician Donald has had one of the greatest music careers in South African history. The musician has made some of the most timeless hits after being on Idols South Africa. However, some people think that the hype of the artist’s music has recently fallen off.
Some people have not heard about the musician’s new music in quite some time but then his devoted fans keep him up. Some social media users, however, keep asking if the artist’s music career is still of relevance or not. Donald has to correct people who claim that he is irrelevant and that his career has reached its end. On his tweets many critics think that the musician’s career has ended in the early 2000s. In one tweet he had critics on him. “I knew very early in my career that I would be different from other artists, the way I move is different. Most don’t get it in the beginning but they eventually respect it,” says Donald.
This is when one social media responded by saying that the musician’s career ended in the early 2000s. The musician responded to the user by saying, “My career only started in 2005, 2009 as a solo artist, only dropped my 1st No. 1 in 2012 and my last No.1 was in 2018, my last Top 5 record was in 2019, so which Donald are you referring to?” One user told the musician to not that type of energy because people are supposedly bored and want to be entertained on the internet. One social media user responded to the user.
“Donald is a nice human being, don’t confuse [that] with his music!!! Tell me Donald last hit song,” says the social media user. The user says the musician’s song featuring Mlindo The Vocalist titled ‘Ngiyazifela’ was not a hit but just Payola. Donald clapped back at the social media user for saying that he paid payola for a song. “Did you also pay Payola for 1.6 million views on YouTube? Thank you Thato, I owe you man…,” says Donald while showing the views for a song of his featuring Mlindo The Vocalist titled ‘Ngiyazifela’.
