South African RnB Voices Dominate Apple Music RnB Now Playlist
As music continues to grow exponentially in the country, the South African R&B scene is taking over international playlists as more artists are being playlisted each month.
Apple Music’s latest update of the R&B Now Playlist features 10 South African artists who have constantly made headlines on the South African music scene. Here are 6 artists playlisted who certainly deserve a listen.
Thando
Johannesburg based Thando Ngoasheng, released her debut six-track EP A Force to Be Reckoned With in November 2020 and received an outstanding reception for the album. The young singer-songwriter was selected as Apple Music’s New Artist of the month for December. Her track First in Line is playlisted in R&B Now.

Rowlene
Rowlene released her album 11:11 in November 2020 with features from Nasty C, Nonso Amadi, and Manana. The singer-songwriter had a song on Netflix’s Original Series ‘Blood & Water’ soundtrack with Nasty C who she collaborates often with. Her track Even is playlisted in R&B Now.

Langa Mavuso
The Sunday Blues performer is no stranger to the South African music scene, his album LANGA features Loyiso, Yanga Chief and Aimee George. The soulful singer also made an appearance in the Netflix Original Series ‘How to Ruin Christmas: The Wedding. His track Panther featuring Yanga Chief is featured in the playlist.

Shekhinah
Absent from the music scene for almost a year Shekinah is back with her second studio album Trouble in Paradise being released on the 29th of January 2021.
