Proverb Speaks On Being A Newly Appointed Board Member At SAMRO. Idols SA presenter an businessman ProVerb was elected as a member of the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (Samro) board. ProVerb is said to have been voted in at the organisation’s 57th annual general meeting.
Speaking on what it means for him to be the new member, the star said: “This is a wonderful opportunity to learn from those who have served at this level, to make a valuable contribution and hopefully affect some positive change to an industry upon which my own career is built. “
Having been a member of the organisation for years, the star spoke on what he would like to bring to the organisation. “I am hoping to help bridge the gap between the organisation and the members, help empower creatives take advantage of the services on offer but also help promote and showcase all that the organisation does. There is also ample opportunity to develop new and innovative ideas to keep up with the ever changing landscape,” said Proverb.
Proverb added what he would like achieve for the benefit of the members – “I have felt it for a while that there seems to be a disconnect between members and the organisation. I, for one, did not know half of what SAMRO offers and only ever thought of it as a local collection footprint, retirement and benefits. I am certain many members, like myself, are unaware and therefore have not taken full advantage.”
