Chomee Breaks The Silence On Receiving R2 Million Payment From The NAC
Chomee Breaks The Silence On Receiving R2 Million Payment From The NAC. The National Arts Council is currently not in the good books of the artists and the public as it is alleged that R300 million worth of COVID-19 relief funds have vanished into thin air. In the same length, a handful of artists are struggling to make ends meet and are going to take to the streets to have Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa brought to book.
Chomee was allegedly accused of having received a R2 million payment from the NAC, and bought a car with the funds instead. Chomee apparently sent out a proposal to the NAC stating that she will need the money for a project of hers called Online Broadcasting Development Programme.
Denying these claims, Chomee said the allegations made against her are lies and said she bought her luxury car in question, six years ago. The singer took to social media and told her fans that a report by a local publication claiming her company, Divatainment, recently received a R2 million payment by the Arts and Culture Department is a lie. The money she allegedly received was meant to help struggling artists amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Chomee told her fans on Instagram that she bought the luxurious car about six years ago. The star replied to a fan who asked about the car: “@nonto_mathebula the car I have was bought about 6 years ago.”
Instagram users have shared their mixed reactions regarding the NAC payment saga concerning Chomee. While some fans suggest that she takes legal action against the publication. Arthur Mafokate defended Chomee and said she does not have enough money to take a huge publication to court and sue them in a post captioned: “What’s happens when such false information is peddled about someone whom they know can’t afford lawyers to sue such a BIG newspaper?”
