Langa Mavuso Celebrates His Pride With Recent Brand Collaboration. Singer Langa has been quite vocal with his pride, more especially creating awareness around queer love with his music. Speaking on Panther and Pretend music videos, Langa highlighted the queer love theme on both music videos.
“We often don’t see that shown in our videos. The only person that has ever done it is Nakhane. To talk about sexuality is not a thing that I like to do but to show it and speak about it openly in a way that is normal was important to me. For those videos, I wanted to show that intimacy and to show that kind of love exists outside of the hetero-normative conforms. Kids need to see themselves, we need to see ourselves reflected in what we consume,” said Langa.
Taking to social media, Langa Mavuso announced his collaboration with Levi’s brand for the #LevisPride collection. “I got to partner & collaborate with @LEVIS South Africa for the #LevisPride collection. This is a custom jacket I collaborated on at the Haus of Strauss in honour of the incredible people whose shoulders I stand on. The custom jacket worn by Langa was collaborated on at the Haus of Strauss which was designed to celebrate the African creator expression through style. Like its counterparts in London, Tokyo and Los Angeles, the intention behind Haus of Strauss Africa was that it become the new hangout for musicians, actors, designers, influencers, style and thought leaders in the creative revolution that is reshaping the way we see ourselves in the world. The space has been designed as a platform for the African Creative Renaissance and to give the creators of today a space to live in Levi’s.
The brand Levi’s was the first Fortune 500 company to extend health benefits to same sex partners, and since then it has worked hard to promote equal rights and fair treatment for LGBTQI+ people everywhere. For Pride 2021, Levi’s continues that support with a collection that screams the pride flag colours in partnership with Langa Mavuso.
