Co-written by musical friend and peer, Jethro Tait, Close To You is everything you would expect from a Majozi hit, but with an extra twist, as he pushes his indie-folk roots a little further into the pop genre, with an 80’s-inspired big-build throw-back bridge of saxophone.

Not shy to lay his feelings out with inspired love songs, Majozi once again bares his soul through his lyrics. Since stepping into the limelight with his first EP in 2013, Majozi has always paid homage to his personal inspiration – God, love and friendships.

Continuing on that uplifting tip, Close To You treads slightly closer to the dancefloor than some of his previous original work such as Darling, Fire and Falling, and lays itself open to great remix material.

Currently based in Cape Town, this Durbanite folk singer has managed to maintain a true cross-over appeal in terms of racial audience and genre and is merging sounds more and more these days in his music. He comments about Close To You, “What is genre anyway?”, and rightfully so, as we are seeing more successful pop artists exploring different sounds.

Personally, growing every day through his song-writing, audiences have been lucky enough to walk his path of development alongside Majozi over the seven years he’s been dropping hits.
