Anele Zondo on the birth of her music career and her biggest debut hit song. South African musician and hip hop rapper Anele Zondo also known as ‘Ney The Bae’ spoke out on the podcast sharing her journey in the music industry.

In her interview on The Episode podcast, Anele shared how her music career started. Anele has been in the music sphere for nearly 4 years. She said that her music career started with a rapper, she did not mention, and the unknown rapper mentored her. She shared that she did not sign with their label as she decided to become an independent artist. She further added that she started surrounding herself with other big artists in the industry so that she can learn more about music.

“My music journey actually started with another rapper that I do not want to mention. I started my journey with them as one of my mentors. I didn’t want to sign with their label specifically I just wanted to be able to get to know what my options are prior to signing to any label. Being an independent artist has taught me so much. I started hanging out with the people in the industry and trying to figure out how do I make music because I’ve always loved music”, said Anele.

Moreover, she spoke about how her debut hit titled Ingwe came about. Anele said that she had 20 songs that she was working on before releasing Ingwe. She shared that it was luck as it was not her intention to release the song and she did not think it will make waves. She shared that the song was made when she came into another person’s studio session and that person was not presented, they started working on the song. She released the snippets of the song on her birthday and people fell in love with it.

“I had like about 20 tracks at that time before I released that track. How that snippet and how that song came about was I was in set with this person. This person was recording a music video for another artist. The artist didn’t make it to the music video and I was there. They asked me for a song, I said let’s do this one and they said bet… I released the snippet of the song on my birthday and all hell broke lose”, Anele shared.

Anele has been doing well in her career since the release of her debut single. She has not been limiting her self to only music. She is also doing exceptionally well in othe areas of the entertainment industry.
