Idols SA Coming To An End After 21 Years

Idols SA is coming to an end after 21 years. The biggest music competition in South Africa, Idols SA has been discontinued after 19 seasons of it being broadcast. The Idols show has been petitioned for cancelation due to certain underlying reasons. However, there will be a final season, season 19.

Idols has produced stars that have made their mark in the music industry. Khaya Mthethwa was the first black contestant in the South African history to win Idols on the 8th season. On the 14th season, Yanga Sobetwa became the youngest contestant to win Idols SA. Amongst the winners, Thami was one of the outstanding singers to win as a runner for season 12 but unfortunately passed away three years later.

Some of the judges that were on the show include South African well known music legends, Somizi Mhlongo, Unathi, Garath Cliff and Randall Abrahams. Unathi and Randall left the show before the beginning of season 18. These judges have been in the show the longest. Moreover, the current judges for the final season are Somizi Mhlongo, JR Bogoba, Thembi Seete and ProVerb as a host.

Fans and viewers of the show expressed how they are not ready for the show to come to an end. Their responses are one of complete disbelief. Some shared that it is about time that the show is coming to an end. It was long overdue.
